After a long restoration period in 2024, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the University of Florence, the Specola Museum in Palazzo Torrigiani finally reopened to the public.<\/p>\n
It houses unique collections of zoology and anatomical waxes, the latter of fundamental importance for medical study and knowledge.<\/p>\n
It was inaugurated by decree of Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo on 22 February 1775. Strongly desired by him, it was one of the most ambitious projects of the entire 18th century in Florence and also in Europe.<\/p>\n
The Imperial and Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History was the first natural history museum to be made accessible to the public, with a very specific aim: to document nature in its entirety.<\/p>\n
This is a unique opportunity to understand the basis of contemporary knowledge.<\/p>\n
The tour will start with a minimum of 10 people and will consist of a maximum of 20 people; participants will be provided with earphones.<\/p>\n
